MicroJoyz started as a tiny experiment on my own desktop, a small character that made long work days feel less heavy. Every update you see here is another step toward building a cosy, playful world on your screen that supports you through the highs and lows of real life. Thank you for being here so early!   • Fixed a bug where speech bubbles wouldn’t appear on some software versions.

Start-at-login added and reliability improvements.

  • Added a “Start at Login” toggle to the Control Panel and menu bar
  • Improved login-start behavior so MicroJoyz reliably spawns windows even during early macOS login timing quirks.
  • Start at Login is now enabled by default for new installs (your choice is remembered if you change it).
  • Second character now persists between sessions if enabled.

Second character added and app icon options for dock/menu bar, plus bug fixes.

  • Introducing the Lazy Black Cat, a decorative companion who mostly naps alongside your main MicroJoyz character.
  • Moved the app’s control icon from the dock into the menu bar to free up dock space.
  • New preference to choose where the icon appears: dock, menu bar, or both.
  • General bug fixes and small performance and stability improvements.

Minor feedback-driven improvements and bug fixes after the Reddit launch.

  • More clear disclaimers on how to update Apple settings so the character rises with the Dock (disable “Automatically hide and show the Dock”).
  • Option to disable AI features from MicroJoyz+, removing the buttons from the screen.
  • Fixed a glitch where updating your profile bio would not update correctly.
